My cell phone philosophy
So everyone knows that i hate the phone. I don't answer my cell on a regular basis. If i happen to flip it open when it rings...my friends feel down right special. If i don't want to talk then i have the right to just "put you in the dungeon," my brilliant friend Jes made that up. At work when my phone rings i simply ignore it. Act like it was some random dinging noise coming from the fax machine. My friends and family all have my work number, if you want to talk to me during the day...call my damn work. Easy enough right? Well my cell has been ringing off the hook all day long and i have contemplated throwing it in the trash can near the kitchen but i guess it would be easy enough just to turn the damn thing on silent. My philosophy with voicemail: Great invention, yes! Although, you do see missed calls on your phone, which would prompt you to see who it was that rang. That is all i need...to see who called and i will return your call-well if i feel like it. No need to leave a damn message. Why leave a message? Just to say, "hey its me, call me back?" That is what a "missed call" says...i called, call me back. So if you don't have anything important to tell me such as...I won the lottery....go claim your prize immediately....then fucking don't leave a damn message. Better yet...shoot me a text. I am very fond of the text message option. It works out great...say you need to relay someone info such as... meet me out front, pick you up out back, meet me at the mail boxes, dinner at 7, on my way, etc. etc. it is a perfect function/invention on cell phones in this lovely tech world we live in. I would have to say it saves times, maybe not energy....and you don't have to say hi how are you...blah blah blah. Basically cut to the chase....texting you get to leave out the bs. Love my text messaging! So my friend R has a different philosophy...he won't return calls unless they leave a voicemail. I say why the hell not? You saw they called...what else do you want to know? Hear their voice again before you return their call? That is ridiculous and i obviously don't share the same view.
Side note: I tend to have an average of 10 voice messages on my phone on any given day. I don't check them but every other day...maybe and so i let them accumulate. Just to hear you utter those damn words....Call me back. I utilize the "7" = erase, quite often.
