Camp Outside Solution

I was so damn excited to have a/c this week while we dog sat. When i arrived there last night from work i can't get the damn air to kick on. I thought i was just a huge dumb ass that couldn't figure out the digital buttons, maybe i couldn't override the set evening program. So i fiddled with it forever and then resorted to staying outside near the pool until James came home to fix the damn thing. Well, much to our dismay the damn a/c digital box thingy was unfixable. Yep...you got it...no a/c again. We were even more miserable then previous nights due to their house being more inland, the house is large with small amount of airflow via windows. Everytime we walked inside it was comparable to a sauna. The dogs literally panted all night....poor things.

After we ate we toyed with many ideas of how on earth we were going to sleep comfortably. The chosen idea was this: sleep outside. Indeed, outside we slept. Oh...now don't think we just slept on the chase lounges...hell no. We were gonna be comfortable. We lifted the queen mattress all the way from the front guest room to the backyard and propped it up on the double chaise. Perfect Solution! So we thought.

One last dip in the water before we layed our heads under the stars. We counted to 3 and both jumped in the pool to cool off! Refreshed and ready to call it a night.

The dogs had quite a different idea. Romeo will have nothing to do with sleeping anywhere else but with us. No matter where we are or the circumstances...he will be cuddled next to us. I couldn't put myself to put Feile in her kennel inside the sauna so i let her have free reign. She opted to join us in bed while Romeo found a comfy spot inside somewhere. All was well until Romeo was fed up with her taking his spot and began to bark in a high pitched howl every 3 minutes for over an hour. Can you say spoiled rotten puggle? I knew what he was trying to communicate so i then proceeded to put her in her kennel and up Romeo came to join us. So from about 3-5 i slept pretty sound until the birds began to chirp and the sun peaked its way out. I am tired this morning. We thought it was a fabulous idea last night but tonight we will have to choose another one of our ideas.

I must say...it felt much like camping out although we were in a backyard near a pool, on a mattress. The only part of last night i was thankful for...california being bugless!
